Last time I was in Paris, I dragged R to the Quai Branly; no particular interest in visiting the museum itself (might’ve been interesting, no denying it), but I was very interested in seeing the green wall clothing the outer walls of the museum.
I wasn’t disappointed. Actually, it was like seeing the ghost of my poor dead green walls inside the building of Brussels’ Parliament.
I saw Soleirola soleirolii, Corydalis lutea, a couple of Heuchera, Iris cf japonica (Patrick Blanc seems to love those), Hosta sp, Lonicera cf nitida… my good old friends from Brussels, only in good health. Pretty good health, anyway. I see those empty patches on the upper left side of the wall, heh.
What the (Brussel… Brusselian? Brusselesque? boh) Parliament’s green walls looked like last time I saw’em? Well, they weren’t green:
Survivors are a couple of Lonicera, some Bergenia, some Syringa if I remember it well, and a couple of others. Not much to look at, I must say.
That’s Belgian weather for you, and crappy wall maintenance, and (maybe) not-so-hot plant choice. Adventures in dryness and death.
I really should be writing a chapter on plants and religion. But I can’t seem to find inspiration. So I’m posting idiotic pictures of green (and not so green) walls. Who would’ve said so…
